What are "orbs"?

What are these "orbs" that are shown in many ghost/paranormal videos/pictures? I'm just curious...

Some people dismiss them as dust forms on photos.  But there are just too many to be dismissed as such.  Spirit entities that can not muster the energy to manifest in full figure, often can produce an orb to let their loved ones they are there and these can and do appear on photos.

There is no such thing as a spirit orb. The orbs are dust, pollen, rain, snow, bugs, bad film etc, etc.

The word "Orb", from the Latin orbis 'circle', is another name for a round object, especially a disk or a sphere.

The celestial spheres, or celestial orbs, were the fundamental celestial entities of the cosmological celestial mechanics founded by Aristotle and developed by Ptolemy, Copernicus and others. In this celestial model the stars and planets are carried around by being embedded in rotating spheres made of an aetherial transparent fifth element (quintessence), like jewels set in orbs.

In geocentric models the spheres were most commonly arranged outwards from the center in this order: the sphere of the Moon, the sphere of Mercury, the sphere of Venus, the sphere of the Sun, the sphere of Mars, the sphere of Jupiter, the sphere of Saturn, the starry firmament, and sometimes one or two additional spheres. "Orb" is a term used by true believers of the paranormal to describe small objects (dust, bugs, rain drops, etc.) which reflect light from a flash.  They show up as fuzzy dots on the resulting picture.

There is positively no evidence to suggest these are spirits, concentrated "energy" or any other paranormal entity.  Those who claim they are have invented this story of whole cloth.

They can be a number of things. Dust illuminated by light, or bugs. Some are energy, and some are paranormal, spirits trying to manifest into full body apparitions. Ones that are paranormal in nature will appear as a ball of glowing light. They draw on the energy they obtain from in the air.
