I would also like to add "line riding" to the list. I need to know these for a translation. Thx in advance.

  1. pipe riding is where the snowboarder slaloms down the half pipe and "catches air", possibly throwing in a trick. Freestyle riding is jumps and rails that are used for tricks

  2. Pipe riding is snowboarding in a half pipe. In a half pipe you ride back and fourth each wall, getting air when you hit the top of the wall (aka the lip). Freestyle riding refers to doing tricks and jumps on rails, jumpers, in a halfpipe etc.

EDIT- As for line riding, i've never heard of it, sorry.

  3. As said by many of the guys above, pipe riding is riding a half pipe and freestyle riding is more rails, kickers etc. Although freestyle is quite a general term anyway and pipe riding is a type of freestlye riding itself. The type of board that is used for pipe riding is alot stiffer than a board that is used for rails as it needs to be stiff so you can carve across the pipe. Im not sure what you mean by line riding but id imagine its something to do with riding in the fall line, which is where you ride with the nose of your board pointing down the slope in a straight line. Good luck with the riding.

  4. Travis is right.  Pipe is the halfpipe and freestyle is doing jumps and stuff off of terrain and park features.

I believe 'line riding' may be normal riding down the fall line on regular trails and not the terrain park.

  5. pipe riding is the same as vert skating for skateboarding, they ride in a half-pipe  getting air off of each side while doing tricks. freestyle is grinding rails, going off of ramps and clearing huge gaps
