RCA jacks are the standard round jacks used in most home theater and stereo components. Other jacks are 1/4", 1/8", S-video, and HDMI. RCA jacks are the standard jacks used for composite video, normal definition audio, component video, and other uses.

By the way, a "jack" is the connector you put the cable into, also called the female. A "plug" is the end of the cable you put into the jack, also called the male for obvious reasons.
