What are real sports?

My friend and I are having an Olympic based debate. He trys to tell me that anybody can master most Olympic sports including him because they are easy and anyone can do them. He also said sports like Gymnastics, Archery, Track and Field, Swimming, Triathalon, Cycling, and most other Olympic sports are nothing, easily mastered, and a waste of time. However I can't convince him that they are and I want some backing in my knowledge. He said millions will tell me the same and I need to show him that he is wrong....his ego is inflated and it is fun to do so!

  1. Alright. Get a highbar and ask your friend to do a kip cast to a moi, giants, flip, grab the bar again, and repeat with giants, do a double twisting layout and stick the landing.

    Gymnastics is not easily mastered!

They train for hours every week!

  2. No offense, but your friend sounds like an idiot.  Many Olympic competitors have to train all the time between olympics to even get close to winning a medal.  It is no easy thing to master any of those things let alone get a medal.  Olympic competitors have talents that not everybody has and that most ordinary people never will have even if they make an effort to get good at it.  Gymnastics is especially not an easy thing.  It is probably the most demanding sport out there.  My friend, who is not even close to olympic level, has to train up to 6 hours a day 4 days a week.

  3. I can understand if he said that about archery, but gymnastics? lol he must be missing a few brain cells.

Out of all those sports, I must admit archery will be the easiest road to the olympics.  This is for one reason, not too many people have used a bow and arrow and fewer still does Olympic style archery.  I happen to be one of those fools who slave away countless hours in the sun flinging arrows at a target 300 feet away.  It ain't easy, but I must admit, to me it's easier than the rest of the other sports out there.

Have him try to pick up a bow and put an arrow on a dinner plate from 30 feet.  Now imagine doing it from 300 feet.

  4. None of them are. My friends does men's weigh lifting(he's in the olympics, ironic) and he trained years to get where he is. also his friend(an olympian)does track and field and it took him 10 years to get where he is.

  5. Haha, go tell your friend to try to run 1 mile in under 5 minutes and see if he can do that. Also tell him to do a back handspring. That's pretty easy and chances are he can't do it. The only thing you can do is dare him to do it.  I've tried all of the above except a triathalon, and they are extremly hard.
