HCFCs and HFCs are replacements for the typical "Freon" gas which is probably the chlorofluorocarbon you are talking about.  HCFC stands for hydrochlorofluorocarbon and HFC stands for hydrofluorocarbon, both of which are less harmful to the environment than chlorofluorocarbons.  An example of HFC would be R-134a.
