Question:

What are seed moths and how can i get rid of them?

i think i have seed moths because i see them flying around and i have a bird cage and seed bag. idk how they breed? do they breed inside of the birdseed??? i really don't know, i always thought these were regular maggots due to breeding in my birds f***s. what can i do to get rid of them?

  1. they are Indian meal moths...yes they are in the seed bags. They will also get into your pantry foods.  You can tell what is contaminated by them by the webbing left behind by the feeding caterpillars.  Store seeds in something airtight and preferably refrigerated, they probably were already in the seed bags when you bought them.   You can also get pheromone traps from hardware stores. These will not stop the problem but help cut down the amount of breeding adults.
