What are seeds and/or leeches? ?

I wanted to download a game and the web told me about an amount of those inside.. Oo

Well, I wouldn't say leechers are bad, at the end of the day, before becoming a seeder, everybody is a leecher:) But, when you download something, leave it seeding for a while (let's say, until it reaches a share rating of more than 1.5). Thus you're helping the others that also want to download something.


  2. It's terminology used in peer to peer networking, or 'torrenting';

    A "seed" is a person who is supplying a file that is being shared over the internet. Seeds are good. Seeds are your friend. A "leech," also know as a "peer," is a person who is downloading a file, but has not yet fully downloaded it. Leeches are bad. Leeches are not your friend (hence the name). When a leech finishes downloading a file, they become a seed.

  3. Seedrs are the amount of people that have the file available for download.

    Leechers are the number of people that are currently downloading the file.

    Ideally when downloading a file you will want more seeders than leechers.
