What are signs and symptoms of an early miscarriage?

I had missed my period for about three months up until last week and i thought i was pregnant but i took 3 tests and they all said no. I am on the pill and finally got what i thoguht was my period last week heavy bleeding for about 4 days and then it stopped...but all of a sudden yesterday i started to bleed and along with the blood this thick mucous stuff came out that not to be gross almost looked like snot ...whats going on?

That does sound like a possible miscarriage. Some women never get a positive pregnancy test from urine, it only shows in a blood test. Also, if it was a situation where the baby never really started to fully form, the hormone levels could have dropped weeks ago (hence the negative tests), but your body is just now expelling things.

Either way, it's definitely something to call your doctor about. After a possible miscarriage they have to make sure nothing is left inside you that could start an infection - and you also need to make sure it's not something else entirely.

that could very well have been a miscarriage but not the usual kind where the baby died - it could have been a blighted ovum, where the baby just really never developed.  everything else was there, just nobody home.
