  1. Inability to focus on things you don't find interesting

    Forgetfulness

    Distractibility

    Impulsiveness

    Hyperactivity(comes with ADHD)

  2. All the previous answers are correct, but I would like to add that ADD folks are usually very intelligent and creative.  They sometimes get interested and involved with projects that take alot of creativity and deep concentration, projects so complex that the rest of us cannot even understand.

ADD children and adults also organize thoughts differently.  So, if you ask them to do three things, they will often hear only the first or maybe the second things on the list, but rarely the third (unless they are really concentrating).  Although they are usually very intelligent, sometimes they cannot even read a long sentence in a book without forgetting the beginning of the sentence.  It's just the way their brains work.

So, ADD people can have trouble following directions, like at school or work, but often become highly successful later in life.  By owning and running their own businesses, they can do what projects they love and are good at, without having to follow other people's directions or rules.

I have several ADD people in my family. I would not change them for the world!

  3. you daydream all frigging day, and pay no attention to what anyone is saying.

  4. The official diagnosis of ADHD includes the three major symptoms (inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness). The most recent version of the handbook for mental health professionals states that people with ADHD may have any or all of the major symptoms.

Three subtypes of ADHD are recognized by professionals:

Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type — If symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity but not symptoms of inattention have been shown for at least six months to an extent that is disruptive and inappropriate for the individual’s developmental level.

Predominantly Inattentive Type — If symptoms of inattention but not symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity have been shown for at least six months to an extent that is disruptive and inappropriate for the individual’s developmental level.

Combined Type — If symptoms of both inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity have been shown for at least six months to an extent that is disruptive and inappropriate for the individual’s developmental level.
