  1. They both have similar ancestors but different histories, cultures and traditions. Their language is different too. The Vietnamese and the Filipinos come from the "Malay" race or the brown race, hence their similar features. Also, the Filipinos that make up the Philippines today are mostly migrants from other Asian countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia, so don't be surprised if the people from these countries look similar, or if the people have similar traditions or words in their languages.

  2. Whoever said Filipinos have 'lots' of Spanish blood is misinformed. Only 3.6% of Filipinos have Spanish or European ancestry.(Spanish name in the Philippines does not mean Spanish ancestry, go look it up) Most Filipinos are closely related to other people from Southeast Asia.(Malaysians, Cambodians, Thais) While some have Chinese ancestry. Filipino culture is definitely mixed with other cultures though(Hispanic, American, Chinese, etc.) and a lot different from Vietnam's. Vietnam has a strong Chinese influence.

  3. Filipino people have lots of Spanish blood in them, and their language has a lot of similarities to Spanish Latin.

The Vietnamese language has a lot of similarities to French Latin, because they were colonized by France and therefore have a lot of French blood in them

  4. About 6 to 10,000 years ago, there was a migration from Taiwan called the Austronesia Invasian.  These people migrated to islands from Indonesia to Madagascar and also settled, Burma to Vietnam.  When they arrived, they generally intermixed with the existing populations to a lesser or greater extent in different places.  The Phillipines were colonized by the Spaniards and mixed with them somewhat.  There is still some other races that exist in the region such as the Negritos Polynesian, and Aboriginies.  They were generally forced into the areas that were less habitable with the exception of New Guinea.
