  1. It would be easier to contrast than compare farmers and nomads (I assume you mean herding or seasonal hunting), actually. Their cultures are/were quite different because they had different means of survival and that translates into different lifestyles and different priorities.

    For example, nomadic herding societies are easier to defend because they have the advantage of being mobile and can have more people armed and ready at any given time.

    On the other hand, farming is a more sure source of food and other items and a farming community has permanent settlements and can make goods that people on the move can't. Think of wood working and metal crafting of things you cant do on the back of a horse or in a small camp that you set up and break down as you move around.

    The only way I can think of how farmers and nomads compare is that the both directly depend on the land for their living and climate and water availability is a concern for them. Also, they both have elabourate sets of obligations and traditions among kinfolk that regulate daily life in their societies.
