don't know any 2d ones...  but there's always runescape. Or you can get WOW and play for free this way. Fill out surveys and order free 60day game cards from here.  all you do is fill out their surveys in the offers page, get the points, then trade the points for the prizes. ** They don't require you to use your real info for the surveys, so just make stuff up and fill them out. You don't need a credit card or anything, it's awesome.

Err, UO is the only one I know of.

Ultima Online. It's hardcore 2D. If you can figure out the free-servers, and find a decent PVP one, it's the best.

Not that I know of.

Only real 2D one I know is Maple Story.
