What are some +'s of solar energy?

We had a house run on solar energy.  It's great as long as you have enough sun.  We live in MT, and we didn't.

Wind power is great.  There's always wind.

It's free, it doesn't pollute and it won't run out for about 5 billion years.

I work for an Energy Program, the program helps people save energy at their homes, or facilities ect. The +'s is that solar energy is better for the enviornment, it helps save energy and lowers the cost of you overall energy usage. It is not cheaper but the perks are that there are alot of insentives, one of them being $ insentives for the long run when you have a solar power system in your home or business/buliding.  It is supposed to improve the comfort and quality of the area, weather it be your home, a church a school ect.

unlimited resource, after initial costs very cheap, non polluting (although a large solar array can increase the heat in an area immediately around it)

IT'S FREE  AND IT DOESNT RUN OUT

It fights global warming.

It reduces dependence on imported oil.

It is useful for something (house, traffic sign, etc.) located where there are no power lines.

    Right now, except for the third case above, it's still more expensive than buying power from the power company, even with tax incentives, etc.  When that will change (and it will) is anyone's guess.

So right now the main customers are well off people who want to help the environment and the economy, even if it personally costs them money, and people who don't want the expense of running a power line into the country somewhere.
