Another question is how much does American culture especially politics affect Ireland? (If it does at all)

And how much are you paying for gas? (or petrol as you might call it)

If I calculated it right, $4.00/gal of unleaded is equivalent to 1.48 Euro/Liter (or litre as you would spell it) =)

I know it's kind of random but I'm very curious so thank you for answering, and thank you for your time!!! =)

politics ireland is a neutral country so it pretty much does its own thing its a democratic country with a few differnt partys and we have a coalition goverment at the mo

not sure bout the petrol and no we dont say bucks

  2. well politics in america is rarely broadcast on the irish news here but the election will be and when there's a war like in iraq.

    it's like €1.29 a litre last i saw

    no we don't say bucks

we'd say petrol costs one euro, twenty nine cents  a litre

but in ireland it's common to call €5 a fiver and €10 a tenner

  3. 99.9% of u.s tv shows are shown in ireland.if you really want to know specifics just google 'rte guide'.thats an irish tv station and will give you a listing of whats currently showing.

no we dont use the expression 'bucks' for money.

petrol price average at the moment is 1.31euro or for diesel its about 1.41 euro

    hope this helps

  4. Ehh yeah we have nearly all of them...Friends,scrubs,simpsons,frasier,b... of queens, family guy, everybody loves raymond, everybody hates chris etc.Petrol at the exact moment in time is 1.31 a litre diesel is 1.41 a litre. However petrol was at 1.41 a while back.We dont say bucks over here and please don't say it you'll sound like a typical corny american tourist(no offence)hahaha. If you want to use the local lingo say quid instead of bucks.Thats q-u-i-d.pronnounced like squid but without the s.For a five and ten euro note we also say a fiver and tenner.Eg that donut cost me 2 quid.A ticket to the cinema is a tenner.Hope i helped.Chead mile failte(100,000 welcomes in Irish which by the way nobody speaks over here so you dont have to know it hahaha

  5. There is so many more that i cant think of now.

petrol is around €1.31 and diesel its about €1.41.

No we dont say bucks here. We say for example : I have to pay 4 quid for petrol etc..

  6. We have tonnes of American shows.

The politics does impact in Ireland in that the crises America has created are global.

The petrol is about 3 times more expensive than America from what I saw on CBS

I have never heard anyone use the phrase 'buck' in real life. 'Quid' is more common.

  7. Yes- Simpsons, Oprah, Dr. Phil, Malcolm in the Middle, Family Guy, they have MTV, you won't be at a loss for US shows.

dont' say bucks- everyone will correct you and tell you Euros.

  8. Lost is one.There are 3.82 litres in a US gallon.Not really.

  9. I'm sick to death of American TV, the only one I watch is Ugly Betty, but we have them all.

I don't think American culture affects Irish politics, money affects Irish politics.  If that money is coming from the US then it will affect it, but thats about all.

In Dublin petrol has actually gone down to €1.29 a litre, which is €5.86 a gallon. That's $9.15.  (its more expensive in rural areas)

And we would never call money a buck, a buck is an animal .  I remember I found that strange when I was in the US, but I got used to it pretty quickly. LOL.  Slang term for money is a quid or some real Dubs say 'Aero' instead of euro. But that could be a regional thing.
