I am taking Judo in four days and since I'm a grappler in high school I'd like to improve my Folkstyle Wrestling game as well. Of course I know Judo isn't exactly like Wrestling but I'd like to keep in mind the moves we go over which are useful from Wrestling. This isn't my first time in Judo but since the distance is far I have to stop whenever the summer ends. I will be there only for one month anyways, and I'd like to enhance my knowledge on these types of throws/sweeps. Peace.

  1. Check out the list of the 40 traditional judo throws at www.judoinfo.com.  I learned some wrestling in school.  I don't know which name it goes under exactly in judo, but one of the really good alumni from our team who did judo and wrestled in college showed us what he called a j*p wizzer.  The fireman's carry, which may be tough to really get down well, is another one.  In judo it's referred to as kata-guruma.  There is another thing that I learned in wrestling that is referred to as one of the sacrifice throws (cause you fall also and really commit to the throw), but I don't have all the names down just yet to tell you which.  Surf through that list of 40.  There are video clips for all 40 which is awesome.  Check those out.  I bet you'll find plenty of moves you can incorporate right off the bat.  Oh yeah, also the hip toss.  There are various grips for those and variations on that.  For some of those check out O goshi, Tsuri Goshi, Tsurikomi Goshi, Uki Goshi....  all of the Goshis.
