I am throwing a surprise party for my mom's 42nd birthday. She always complains that we never do anything for her birthday even though she always says she doesn't want anything or for us todo anything. The restaurant I am having the party at is very nice. I have the decorations all in order. I wanted to have some things to do during the party. I know I am going to give a toast but I feel like we shouldn't just sit down and have dinner there should be more to it. PLease, if you have any ideas let me know! thanks.the party is monday the 25th. And there are 25 people coming.

  1. ask people to write a nice short coment on a piece of paper when they get there, and after a while at the party, they could read it to her outloud to make her feel great.

  2. How about a game?  Like, write down things about your mom and have them guess.  Such as her middle name, her high school, her favorite food, etc.

gifts are going to take some time also.

A toast is a good idea, maybe ask others to give one also?  Like a family member, her best friend, etc.

  3. mom trivia is a great one! have a list of all different types of questions like her fave food, name of the first boy she kissed, her biggest pet peeve, what was her favorite vacation spot, stuff like that. (think of some funny ones too!)

you really only need to do one game like that, something people don't really have to get up from the table to do, and something that doesn't take too much time since everyone will be ordering dinner and chatting it up with everyone else and having a good time!

you could have some type of small party favor set out at each place setting for the guests- like a small candle or something. I found ones on clearance for like 50 cents at Michael's that smelled real good.
