What are some advantages and disadvantages of biodiesel alternative fuels?

Almost all still depend on the oxidation of Carbon  so what have u accomplished.

Pro: amount of carbon dioxide that is released during combustion equals carbon dioxide intake by the plant during growth. No additional carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.

Con: huge amounts of rain forest are sacrificed for the production of vegetable oil (ie biodiesel)

Advantages:

Is not a fossil fuel

Is cleaner burning than conventional diesel

Has natural lubricating properties, thus does not require the addition of additives

Disadvantages:

Is a solvent and will attack fuel system components in many diesel engines

Cost more than conventional diesel.
