  1. self-pollination can cause vision problems (snork)

    k?

    oh alright idk the answer,but

google it!  type in "pollenation wikipedia"

you should get a pretty good pafe of info

oh and along with the vision problems? self-pollenation is just messy !  very very messy :)

  2. basically genes

cross pollination causes much more variations in the gene pool thus giving it a better chance of having some surviving if a plant disease hits. However, usually, crosspollination takes more effort and time.

Self pollination is faster except all the reproduced plants are the same exactly as the mother plant. which means if something bad happens they either ALL life or ALL die.

Hope i got this. Exactly what i learned in bio last year lol

  3. Outcrossing leads to more heterozygosity (dominant genes mask recessives) and heterosis (hybrid vigour), but can break up adaptive complexes of genes.  Hybrids (F1) are more vigorous, and their offspring (F2) are more variable (and therefore more able to adapt to new environments).

Inbreeding leads to more homozygosity and loss of vigour, when rare deleterious recessive genes are unmasked (paired).  Inbred populations are less variable, but are able to reproduce locally adapted combinations of genes more reliably, therefore making them better able to persist and spread in the same environments.
