  2. Miles Automotive makes some "normal looking" EVs.  Right now they don't have any long-range or high-speed EVs.  Generally their top speed is 25 mph and range is 40 miles per charge.

The best affordable EV right now is the ZAP Xebra, which has a top speed of 40 mph and a range of around 25 miles per charge (longer if you upgrade the batteries).  The 25 mile range model costs $10,500.  It's a 3-wheeled car and doesn't exactly look normal (you can get it with zebra stripes or normal colors).

Available in late 2008 or early 2009, the Miles Javlon will cost $30,000 with a top speed of 80 mph and a range of 120 miles per charge.  Check out the link below to see pictures - it looks like a regular sedan.

  3. The Rav 4 is very "normal" looking and from what I hear, very affordable. My parents have one Rav 4 electric vehicle before they banned the import of them into California. If they are available near you I greatly recommend it.

  4. There are no mass produced electric cars.  The two best fuel efficient "hybrid" cars are the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic (hybrid version).  If you don't like the looks of the Toyota Prius, the Honda Civic Hybrid looks just like the "regular" Civic.
