We will be having about 90 people, and want to do a simple ceremony in the same location as the reception. We will most likely want to bring in outside caterers. Ideas?

  1. Have you considered Michael's in Morrisville. It's not Philly, but neither is the price & the food is GREAT.

  2. Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

There are a LOT of wedding venues in Philadelphia: http://www.perfectweddingguide.com/Phila... shows but a few.

Many times it's going to be hard to know what a venue will really charge until you go check them out. However, here are some tips that might help:

    1. Check out photos and read up on the venue - in most cases, and some can disagree, but if it sounds and looks pricey, it probably is. Just my experience... but you don't have to rule them out (see #2 and #3)

    2. Take a morning and call around to a few that you're interested in. First things first, make sure they have openings for the date you're interested in. If not, you'll just be wasting your time and theirs asking questions when they're not available on your set date.

    3. While on the phone, ask for price range. Most catering managers won't want to give you a quote over the phone, which is understandable. But you can say something like, "I realize you can't give me a firm quote over the phone and with only a few details, but I'm just trying to narrow things down a bit. Can you give me a ball park price range for X guests on X date." They should be able to give you something to go on which can help you rule them out or keep them on the list.

Some other ideas include choosing an "off day" wedding. In most cases, venues offer discounts if you're able to choose a non-typical wedding day, like a week day or in some cases a Sunday. So if you're able to consider a Friday afternoon wedding, ask about discounts for booking your wedding on an "off day". You might be surprised at the cost difference.

I hope this helps you! Best of luck!
