What are some alternative ways to meditate?

Or just share your own methods of meditation in detail (visualizations, breathing techniques, relaxation techniques?)

Also, what are some ways to guide someone else through meditation? I know its an individual thing but for someone who hasn't really done it before? Advice for someone trying to give advice?

  2. Okay, there are many ways to relax and meditate.

    Yoga is one of the best well known methods to achieve that peace of

    mind/body harmony..

  4. I learned some cool ways to meditate when I had my zen class (massage two) in massage school. One very simple way is to sit quietly and drink hot tea. For some reason when we drink tea in a calm environment our minds wander into a meditative state. It's quite interesting. Then another way was to go walking in the grass or in a place that's peaceful, barefoot. Walk in a very slow manner. Concentrate on your walking, pick your foot up to your knee, then slowly place it on the ground feeling the entire step, then pick the other foot up and do it again. It's pretty amazing. Relaxation is a big key to meditation.  There are many books that would benefit someone trying meditate for the first time.  I like to knit and swim while I meditate because it gives my body a task and lets my mind go where it may.  My mother likes to sit in a small dark room in a chair.  Its all about giving the mind a chance to explore.
