I want to have some animals that my 2 year old painted turtle can have living in the same tank with him. Of course I don't want him to eat them for lunch.

  1. pretty much ya gotta stay with the same species..painted,cooter,sliders, yellow bellied all can be housed together..as long as you have ENOUGH room or any 2 will fight for space and dominace.

“.Sliders are great for decorating ponds or large tanks. I have had two for 36 yrs now plus a 8 yr old and a 5 yr old. This is how I have taken care of them for 36 yrs. Great pets.

I have had them in a stand alone 150gal pond from sears..for about 6 yrs now..

**Here is some important and a lot of info. If he or she is small get feeder guppies or small feeder goldfish, frozen brown worms ..or live brown worms from a fish store. petco and or petsmart do not carry live worms..

**Contact the “herpetologicalsocieties.com in your city and state for a vet.

  2. hello , allot of people have asked this question of me and my basic answer is anything of the same size should be ok but keep a eye on them for a bit because most species will get territorial and defend what is theirs but in most cases even if that happens they usually calms down rather quick and if you have a male then get a female and so on or female to female as males tend to have beef with each other more often in most species.

(male turtles have long front claws that they will use when around a female to "wow" them and females have rather short front claws just so you can pick with a better idea of what you are getting s*x wise)
