What are some areas that Germany needs improvement on?

Cleaning up it's city streets. I live in a small town near Hamburg, and it's really dirtier here than any given big city that I've visited. Also, shops should be opened on Sunday if the business so desires!

As the answerer above shows quite well, a problem (not only) of Germany are discussions at so called beer table level ("Stammtischniveau" in German). Only missing a complain about too high taxes.

Most people have a broad knowledge in questions about society, politics, etc., but tend to not using it in prefference for simple wannabe-answers. If this mentality could be changed, I would feel a little better in here.

Back to serious stuff:

Germans usualy don't like changes. Political processes are kind of slowed down by this attitude.

Some areas, especially in the East, are kind of gonna die out in the next decades. Most young people are moving away as soon as they can, as they don't see any perspective in living there.

The aging population is going to become a problem. The current system of senior benefits won't be financiable any more. Besides, the older part of the people might be kind of disintegrated, as core families are becoming more and more common.

It is unsure, how long the German high position in wealth and industrial sucess can still be kept as especially Asian countries like China are closing up quickly.

The debates between the three German main faiths; christianity, atheism and (rather new in this list) islam, seem to become harder. This might lead to problems and gaps within the society.

It is unclear, what legislations still lie in German responsibility, and what are EU-topics...

Many people from other countries think, Germans are not patriotic and proud enough. While I don't agree with that, it still seems to be seen as a problem.

Oh yeah and of course, the German Fußball-Nationalmannschaft (football/soccer national team) seems to suck just right before the European Championships. I think, to many this will be the most important point in the following weeks. ;-)

The Health scheme and the Pension funds should be revised. Germany should look after its natives before it should look after immigrants. It is nice to help, but there are Germans who need help badly.................

in our community the irresponsibility is the biggest problem.

everybody is strugglin for himself, nobodys interested in problems of other people.

Everybody is only busy with his own wealth and doesn't look over the shoulder anymore.

We have responsibilities for others!

Well I am not German but have lived there and travel a lot there and I think that Geier and Bernd are quite correct here!
