You'll likely use some sort of tax software, Excel, maybe some kind of trial balance software, perhaps QuickBooks or Peachtree, depending on your duties.

Duties will vary too. At one firm you may be entering basic data into a tax return at another you may be just scanning or making copies. Where I work interns are given tasks like entering data into depreciation schedules, or, like I said, entering info into tax returns.  You may also be the runner...run get food for firm lunch, run pick this up from a client, etc.
