  1. Here are a few links that should help you.

  2. Go is not like chess - there are no real set of strategies you can study. This is because go is much more abject than chess - chess pieces can only move in certain ways, which allows for definite strategies; the possibilities in go are infinite, and the board is open to just about any move you want to make.

Instead of trying to learn some go strategy, you should just play many games. You should not try to play go in one specific style - if you decide ahead of time to play defensively or offensively, you leave yourself open to weakness against a better player.

You can however learn joseki and fuseki. When you understand opening game and other regular go patterns, it will improve your game (but only if you have a strong concept of the game to begin with). Here are some good resources:

Kogo's Joseki Dictionary - once you download it, you can run it using KGS or IGS (or any .sgf editor really), and you can go over pretty much every opening sequence you'll ever come across (only corner enclosures, though). It can be really helpful:   http://waterfire.us/joseki.htm

    Good luck!
