What are some birthday party ideas (games, goodies, etc.) for a 5 year old boy?

This may seem a little long, but please bear with me, lol.

My brother is turning five in less than a month, and like all 5 year olds, he wants a party. Unfortunately, Mom won't let him have his party at Chuck E. Cheeses, but instead, at home. Several boys and one or two girls are going to be at the party.

Outside, we have a pretty big playground and a 15 foot trampoline, but inside, well, it's boring. We're probably going to get him a pinata, but we only thought of one game so far (tie a balloon around everyone's ankle, and then they try to step on each other's balloon; whoever's balloon isn't popped at the end is the winner), so we need games to keep them occupied for 2 hours.

Also, is watching a movie at home a good idea, too? Like I could hook up the computer to the plasma TV and go on watch-movies.net for them.

And the goody bags. What goodies should we have [that aren't crappy]? For the boys, I'm thinking about those matchbox cars (Hot Wheels?; one/two each) and for the girls, Littlest Pet Shop animals (one/two each). We need some more goodies, lol.

Any other suggestions are appreciated, too! Thank you so much!

  1. A birthday party at home was a really good idea, and it's safe.  You should make your own goodie bags, go to the store and buy little things such as candy and like you said some toy cars, and for the girls, just some small dolls are fine(I'm not a girl so bare with me).  Renting movies are also a good idea, but the computer idea works too.

Maybe if your brother likes sleepovers, his friends could stay a night? If 5-year-olds are into that lol. I can't really think of anything else since I didn't have birthday parties when I was 1-9 lol.
