What are some books in which the author doesnt like the society he/she is writing about?

Such as.. the scarlet letter, to kill a mockingbird, les miserables, etc.

  2. I agree that Ayn Rand had a lot to say about society.

    My favorite author of that vein is certainly Charles Bukowski. He loathed society, and made no bones about it. I recommend anything he's ever written.

  3. Ayn Rand wrote about life under Soviet rule. She definitely didn't like it.

    More upbeat, Robert Heinlein wrote stories about alternative societies (fiction). He definitely hoped to change American thinking with his books.
