Well I know for a fact that "The Vampire Diaries" is a good series to read. There are some similarities between that and the Twilight series. people think that stephenie meyer stole some stuff, but they have to remember that there are only so many things about vampires that you can come up with. but yea,  The Vampire Diaries by L.J.Smith, and i think Vampire Kisses. <- i havent read that one yet, but im gonna.

Try any of the books by John D. MacDonald that have a color in the title.  They're mystery/detective books with a hero by the name of Travis McGee--I've been in love with Him since I was in high school.  Mr. MacDonald died a few years back so there are no new McGee books coming out, but He is a big guy who is a detective that lives onboard a house boat named the Busted Flush, which he won in a poker game.  He recovers "things" and gets 50% of whatever he recovers as his fee.  He's taking his retirement in chunks and only works when the money runs low.  There's always some woman or other that he gets involved with.  Good books!  Enjoy!
