Question:

What are some careers that involve fashion but isn't fashion design?

Let's face it: I can't design or sew anything for my life.

I have an eye for fashion, but fashion design is just not meant for me! My dream college is the Fashion Institute of Technology and I've considered opening a clothing boutique. This would require a degree in Fashion Merchandising Management, right? And what are some other options?

Sorry I'm so confused. I'm only 13. -sigh-

I know it's early to be thinking about this, but for some reason I just want to have it all planned out.

  1. You can be a writer for a fashion magazine. You'd need a degree in English or journalism to write for magazines.

    Hope that helps.

  2. hey, i'm 13 too:) I love fashion. We still have time. You could open up your own boutique where you can take some fashions ( ex. gucci dress and change it up and it would have been an alteration without actually designing )

  3. Modelling...I'm 17 and I got into modelling when I was about 14. It's good to start things at a young age. =)

If you find a modelling company that you're really interested in, ask your mum and send in a folder of some pictures of you in it to the company. Give the company your phone number and e-mail address and hopefully the will reply!

  4. You don't need a degree to have a Boutique...just some business sense and the desire.

Have you watched "What not to wear"?  You could do something like that, but nto neceesarily a show....helping people look better...showing them the right kind of clothes to wear.

Or...a fashion magazine might be up your alley.

You could be a fashion photographer or a model.

Umm...lets see, how about learning what it takes to be a fashion designer?

    Hope this helps
