  1. One significant change is that the insulation voltage rating of of wire has been decreased. Meaning what was rated at 480V is now considered only 300V. Which in turn has required the insulation to become thicker to meet the CSA standard.

    Wire may now have a dual rating, UL 480V at 105degC and a CSA 300V at 95degC. Therefore, to get an appropriate wire for a 480V circuit it would have to say: UL 1000V and CSA 600V.

    This of course causes a higher price for the wire to be used in Canada.
