  1. It's great that you want to help out, and, I'm happy to say, that most of the time anyone of any age can help out with anything.  Go to a soup kitchen, volenteer to cut someone's grass, etc.

Remember, you don't need to participate in an organized 'charity' to do charitable things.  ;)

  2. It's great that you're thinking ahead & being generous with your time.

Most communities have volunteer registration at community centres.

Inquire at your Town Hall or Library, for local charity organizations.

But there are many national & international charities that need help.

Even a 12 year old can organize fund raising projects at school.

  3. Dear friend, great question!  It warms my heart whenever a young person chooses to do some volunteer work and help others.  Your time is the most precious gift that you can give!  Volunteering has immeasurable rewards for both the giver and the recipient.

Have you heard of a website called www.local.com?  They can help you find some places in your area that are looking for volunteers.  The hard part is going to be deciding what you want to do!  You can choose to help the elderly, other young people, work with animals, or help clean up the environment.  There are even some activities you can do online.  Please visit this website with your parents so they can help you choose work that will be a good fit for your talents.  Here is a heartfelt “Thank You” for taking the initiative and for caring about others!  Be sure to invite your friends - - you all will have a great time!  Take care!

  4. It should be something that you are interested in.

I have some friends that have worked at the animal shelter, food bank, red cross, local hospital, library.  What are you interested in?  Do you like animals?  is feeding the poor or helping people to get back on their feet a priority for you?  Whatever you do, it can lead to further interests.  I have a friend who was a candy-striper in high school, who went on to become a nurse after college.
