if you buy a copy of Sydneys' Cheap Eats from newsagents, I would imagine there would be listings of restaurants which are child-friendly. There are also pages and pages of recommended restaurants.

This is obvious and probably not what you're after but McDonalds are very kid friendly - some of their restaurants have children's play areas. Now they have sandwiches and salds on the menu, it's also a bit healthier than it used to be.

Eatability give a list of about 50 restaurants.

I would say that most wood-fire pizza places are child friendly because they have that casual dining atmosphere, as would Mexican.  You can do a Mexican search on Eatability too.

North Shore Dining says that Bardeli's is child-friendly:

Try also, cafes in Mosman and Neutral Bay.  There are ALWAYS annoying little kids running around and drinking $5 cappuccino froth!

Chinese restaurant are kid friendly.  They are also usually cheap and the kids can have some soup and little finger foods like spring rolls.  Yum cha is also fun for them as they can pick and choose different things.
