  1. Here are some games  played in France :

Le loup (the wolf) which is "tag".

    Cache-cache (hide and seek).

Marrelle (no idea aout the English name) : you have to draw some kind of chart on the floor (using chalk) and then through a little stone within one of the square drawn on the floor and jump oveer it.

1 2 3 soleil (once more no idea about the English name) : one kid is facing the wall and counting 1, 2, 3 soleil (sun) and then turn around to watch other kids that are supposed to run and just freeze as the first kid turns around to look at them. The first kid that touches the wall wins and takes the place and counts.

Board games : (I'm pretty sure you know them)

    Monopoly

    Trivial Pursuit

    Scene It

    Uno (cards game)

    Scrabble

Loads of French kids are playing video games or online games.

I suggest you visit this website (mind you it's all in French) http://www.planetejouets.com/

  2. Marelle is hopscotch in English, to complete the answer given above.

My kids like to play 'ni oui, ni non' in which one person questions another and that person can neither say 'oui' (yes) nor 'non' (no)... hilarious!

Barbichette' = two players, The players stand face to face, gently holding the other players chin. They say, at the same time "Je te tiens, tu me tiens, par la barbichette

Le premier de nous deux qui rira

    Aura une tapette

    Au bout de trois

    Un! Deux! Trois!"

They have to stand there and the first one who laughs gets a gentle slap from the other.

You can also play 'Rochambeau', also known as 'Paper Scissors Rocks', which translates to: Pierre, Feu (fire), Ciseaux

Other than that, nothing much comes to mind that differs from what american children play. This website may be of help to you (in French only) http://www.momes.net/jeux/index.html...

  3. I saw a lot of Star Wars action figures in France.  And the board game monopoly is played all over the world.  I believe that there is a French version.
