  1. What Ricky Ray says is true.  However if you really want to go to the top of the field, hobnob with John Negroponte and so forth, go to an ivy league school like Brown or Dartmouth, or MIT, or Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh or Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.  If you are going into the eleventh grade at 15 then that should be something to look at.

My sister went to Brown in the sixties.  She met her husband there who had careers at IBM and in education while she worked for Pratt & Whitney for years.  Their son went to MIT and does international consulting.

If you can take courses now at the local community colleges etc., they will actually look good on your transcripts though you may not get credit for them,  (You may, though -- it's just there are so many ways to see students get what they need the structure of what may be an excellent course may or may not reflect the structure of a similar course at another school and you could end up flunking something you thought you had passed a prerequisite for).  I definitely recommend studying UNIX.

In any case, take lots of  math and get the best grades you can.

  2. computer programing can be taken at any university. thats the kind of field where you can go to community college for 2 years with crappy grades in high school, and then transfer to your local university and walk away with a bachelors and excellent job opportunities

  3. mit

    stanford

    michigan
