Due to unusual circumstances in my family, my parents cannot help me pay for college, but unfortunately, they make too much money for me to qualify for need-based financial aid. Therefore, I am looking for schools that will give me a full scholarship.

The good thing is I'm a decent student. Here are my stats:

ACT: 31

GPA 3.8 at one of the top schools in the country

State: Louisiana (if that makes any difference)

Extracurriculars: Owner of a small web business, 200+ hours at local hospital, #2 in state for computer science, Speech & Debate President, NHS, tech squad, newspaper, Junior Classical League, Ambassadors, and more.

So, what are some schools where I stand a chance at getting a full ride?

  1. With your scores you'd get the best level of TOPS and you could go anywhere in Louisiana for free

  2. Actually, you have to be 24 to be an independent.

  3. hmmm...let's see....EVERYWHERE! once you're eighteen, you can declare yourself as an independent and you'll have no connection to your parents' money. that way, you can receive more financial aid (since you said your parents would not). but with your grades and extracurriculars, i'm sure state universities would give you a full ride. but you have a pretty good shot at getting a lot of help from top-notch schools as well. i assume you're in honors/AP classes so don't worry...you're on the right track. but is that an unweighted GPA? i hope so.
