  1. what kind of sailboat??

im not sure, i can only tell you some things ive done wrong recently, while rigging a dinghy sailboat:

-not tieing knots securely enough (the knot on the outhaul opened at sea)

-not securing the cunningham (any ropes) correctly (when the boat capsized for the 5th time, the mast fell out)

-using the wrong knot in the wrong place

-doing stuff in the wrong order

youll learn the more often you do it, thats really the only way.

thats all i can think of right now, hope this helps. good luck

  2. well usually theres a certain order of things that have to be put up and assembled and tied ect.. that go into rigging up a sailboat problems that ive had is not doing someting in its order and having to take down a sail or something because u forgot to tie down the mast

  3. One of the most common mistakes that can have some fairly serious concequences involves the stays.   Many people over tighten them which can lead to structural damage of the deck. Small cracks on the deck coming out from the base of the mast are an indication this may have happned on that boat.      Stays which are way to loose or come undone can not only be hard on the rigging and boat but could leed to being dismasted.   Obviously having the mast come down underway can lead to serous damage and injury to those on board.  Take the time adjust your stays properly and check the frequently.
