What are some cool places to hang out for free?

I live in Long Beach California. Where should I go? It's boring staying home.

I'm guessing the people answering 'the beach' haven't seen what the beach in Long Beach looks like.  You can ride your bike on the trail that goes along the beach.

Most of the free stuff is either cultural or educational.

The Earl Burns Japanese Garden at CSULB is free. The Aquarium of the Pacific is having Shark Lagoon Nights and you can go to the aquarium for free from 6-9pm on Friday nights. The Long Beach Museum of Art and the Museum of Latin American Art are both free on Fridays.  

Now that summer is over LB does lack in free activities. The Sea Festival offered something to do for free almost every day, but that ended last weekend.

The District is the local weekly for Long Beach and the surrounding areas. Their calender section lists concerts and other events coming up.   It's free and you can usually find them at 7-11.

The OC Weekly and the LA Weekly are also good free papers to pick up or you can use their websites.

The Beach is the main one but if you want some where more private/quiet try your local green or park and have a BBQ or a picnic at either place or maybe just a walk around town!
