  1. If you want a good steak house i suggest you try hogsbreath Cafe theres a few stores in melbourne which are Chadstone, Knox and Dandenong or Ballarat. The steaks are big but they sell more then steaks but just know the prime rib is slow cooked for 18hrs and tastes really good it just melts in your mouth. stongly recommend

  2. If you like Malaysian food then you've got to try Monk & Me.  The food is sensational.  They are located at 9 Evans Place, Hawthorn East and their web site is www.monkandme.com.au.  We have tried lots of Malaysian Restaurants but this is by far the best one we've come across.

  3. If you like Greek food try Santorini at Williamstown.  Their food is wonderful.

Also, it's a bit of a trip from the city and not the trendiest part of Melbourne but the Indian Roast at Werribee (Heaths Road, opposite the Werribee Plaza which is really Hoppers Crossing) has the best Indian Food at very reasonable prices.   Don't be put off by the surroundings.  It's well worth the trip.

  4. head down to victoria st in richmond heaps of asian food at very good prices lygon st big rip off or go to  elizabeth and latrobe st the gold n fork top indian food .

  5. I made up a list of restuarants in Melbourne (and a couple in the country) that seemed to me to have a special something going for them (I used the Age Good Food guide, and the net.)

Here is the list - I hope there is something there that will appeal to you:

  6. If you don't live in Melbourne your best bet would be to look at a website that offers restaurant reviews and listings: eg. bestrestaurants.com.au, menulog.com.au, eatability.com.au

Alternately check the dining sections of theage.com.au or similar papers.

All these sources will probably give you more info than the personal favourites people list here (although these are quite helpful too)

  7. Go to Lygon Street for Italian.

    Mecca is nice
