  1. Make a fountain(nitrogen gas is used to make the water flow up),or make a flour bomb(put flour in ballon, then light it up,it blows,{because flour is a carbonhydrate an it conducts,or take a ballon, rub on ur clothes or air an attact it to pieces of papers.Inshort,go to you tube an ask,u will see some cool ones.

  2. take a plastic comb or a rubber rod and rub it in a fluffy towel vigorously for a while.  turn the sink on so a very thin stream is flowing.  place the comb close to the stream but don't touch it.  it should bend the water.

  3. I had a lot of fun in science class creating plasma in a microwave. It's fairly simple and looks cool/scary depending on how you look at it.

    Materials:

A microwave (get an old one or borrow one from home ec)

    Wooden matches

Holder for match (putty, play-dough, gum eraser, cork, etc)

A glass to catch the plasma in (see video for an idea)

"lifters": can be cork or Styrofoam, something to lift the glass off the bottem of the microwave.

This is an easy one, simply make a base for a match so that the tip that lights is facing up. Set it inside (either disable or remove the part that rotates the dish), light the match, place the glass over it so it is sitting on the "lifters" to allow air to get to the match, then turn the microwave on high. After a few moments you'll see sparks of ball lightning (plasma) rise from the match to the top. After a few seconds it's best to let the glass cool off as plasma is very hot and can cause damage to the glass.

Whats happening is this. The fire burning is releasing carbon which is being excited by the microwaves, producing plasma or "ball lightning"

There is debate about the harmful effects of the produced gas (NO2, CO2, O3, etc,) but most of these are simply suffocating gasses, (ie non toxic)  and can be easily dealt with by cupping your hand under the glass and taking it outside when your done...just wait till it cools off.

I'd go into more technical details of how this works but it's your experiment, so if you chose it just research ball lightning, plasma and methods of creating plasma. This is kinda an old trick, but if anyone hasn't seen it before it's pretty amazing to watch, and very easy to do.

  5. A few things come to mind:

    #1 -- Non-newtonian fluids

Mix some water with corn starch until the water is really thick.  It should look like heavy cream or a chunky soup.  Then, play with it!  When you push on it hard, it turns hard, but if you push slowly, it acts like water.  See this video: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=qGqhYUVwPS...

#2 -- Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream

You need to be at least 18 (or have someone with you who is 18) to do this one...

    See this: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=hKY0orWnYf...

    #3 -- If you're really, really careful...

I won't even tell you how they do this.  Have LOTS of adult supervision: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=6D0xp2EvHC...

    Have fun and be safe!
