  1. 1) Have dinner with an icon of the Hippie era.

Jim Haynes is one of the founders of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and founder of the London Traverse Theatre Company. He started Suck, the sexual freedom newspaper, in Amsterdam in 1969 and taught Media Studies and Sexual Politics at the University of Paris 8.

He throws a dinner party every Sunday night. The crowd will include college professors, artists, the occasional rock star of famous actor. Give him a phone call or send him an email and you'll be invited. Details are on his website at: http://www.jim-haynes.com/index.htm

    2)Go Rollerskating

Every Friday night except when there is rain, the City of Paris and the Paris Rollerskating Association organize a skate thru the streets of Paris from about 10 PM till 1 AM.

    3) Become a member of the least exclusive club in the world

The Café Metropole Club meets every Thursday after noon. membership is very exclusive...you have to show up. details can be found here: http://www.metropoleparis.com/aclub.html the people who show up are a coolection of expatriates and tourists. A good place to meet some nice people and get some good advice about current events

As for restaurants, my current favorite is La Methode at 2 rue Descartes in the 5th arrondissement (Latin quarter). Check out this little video: http://www.pariszoomtv.com/video/238/La-...

At Crepes a Go go at 12 rue Soufflot also in the 5th and close to the Pantheon they have all the crepes you can eat every Thursday night...a good deal.

Then there's Maison de la Lozère at 1bis & 4, rue Hautefeuille in the 6th which is right off the Place St. Michel which has the best aligot (a dish of mashed potatoes, cheese and cream which is unbeleivably good) in town.

Finally, Auberge le Pot de Terre at   22 rue du Pot de Fer has some excellant cheap eats : http://www.lepotdeterre.com/index2.htm

  2. If you like having fun:

Go to the ICe bar: A place entirely dedicated to the Grey Goose Vodka all made of ice: You enter for 27 euros for half an hour and a big winter suit is given at the entry. Then, this is an open bar for 30 minutes. The place is really awesome because all is made of ice even the glasses!

You have some good place to go out too: Le nouveau casino in la Rue d'Oberkampf a good concert and Live Music place.

You can go to La cité des sciences, a good place to see what the future purpose...

Try the Palais Omnisports de Bercy, there are good sports events all year long,

you also have to know that everything is really expensive in Paris. Like all capitals in the world...

  3. My favorite restaurant in Paris is Chez Papa near Bastille...Not sure if it's still there...No tourists at all...and the best cassoulet you'll ever eat.

  4. I loved the lamb chops at Les Philosophes in the Marais.  My lunch favorite is Les Canons des Gobelins, just outside the Goblins metro stop.  The panini rome is incredible.
