What are some countries (besides the US) that have gained independence?

Something that you would have probably never heard of.

  1. I did research on Bangladesh and it gained its independence less than 100 years ago.  


  2. when the USSR dissolved,al the countries got their independence back,for example. the Czech republic and Slovakia.  

  3. Cuba. Mexico. Bolivia. Venezuela. Brazil. South Africa. India. Ecuador. Uruguay. Paraguay. There is a lonnnnnnng list of nations which gained independence. Almost all South American and all African nations were at some point ruled by European nations.  

  4. My family is from St. Lucia, so you might be interested in them.  They were owned seven times by France and seven times by England who gained final and permanent possession in 1814.  In 1967, England granted St. Lucia self-government and on February 22nd 1979, St. Lucia gained their independence.  

    It&#039;s really beautiful too, so that&#039;s a plus.  I&#039;m sure it will easily impress :-)
