I don't need the instructions on how to do them, I just need a name/general description

  1. A couple of things that occur to me (aside from using the cling wrap for mixing paints on a disposable surface, or wrapping paint brushes to put in the freezer so they won't dry out, or using as a temporary work surface, etc.) would be:

...bunching it, then using with paint or ink to "stamp" textures with, or to manipulate still-wet surfaces... or bunching it to press into polymer clay or other clays to create texture

...plastic sheets (including thin plastic food wrap) can be placed over polymer clay, then one can use tools of various kinds to sculpt the clay *over* or through the wrap... this results in smoother sculpted lines (the thinner the plastic used, the finer the detail that can be created)

...raw polymer clays can be placed onto top of most brands of plastic wrap so they won't "leach" out their oily plasticizer into porous surfaces

...and air dry clays can be wrapped air-tight in it so they won't dry out

  2. There are some decorative painting techniques for walls and furniture which use cling wrap in various ways. I've seen wadded-up wrap used to do a leather-look faux-finish, and loosely-rolled wrap used in 'ragging' techniques. It can also be used in furniture refinishing to help keep paint- and varnish-stripper from drying out too quickly.
