Hello. I am a high school student assigned to teach my peers about AJROTC general knowledge. The students are between 9th-12 grade. I'm trying to steer away from the traditional methods of teaching; textbooks, handouts, lectures, etc. (Boring!) The class shoun't take that long; 30 minutes should do it. I was wondering if there was anyone out that that could give me any suggestions as to what I could use. Or if anyone knows how to use a program like PowerPoint to the fullest extent. (I was already thinking about PowerPoint Jeopardy.) I am all ears!

  1. hello, I am a junior in high school. One of my most creative teachers had this rule:

No raising your hand (she liked the students to feel equal to her)

    She actually uses powerpoint jeopardy...hah

    hope I helped!

  2. Hey boy, good idea to give lessons with PowerPoint, it is more effective.

    Have a look at here

some PowerPoint skills to let your PowerPoint more attractive,

  3. try www.teachertube.com it's really helpful!! i have gotten lots of ideas for lesson plans/activities from this site

  4. get them to actually do something in class, rather that just watching you.  Perhaps note some bullet points on large sheets of paper, and in groups of 4 or 5 the students do a sort of rotational bus stop, writing words on their perception of the bullet points before moving to the next sheet of paper.

  5. PowerPoints can be limited to targeting only the visual learners...you need to cover all the learning styles. One thing I do is I put a vocabulary word or idea on the board. Two students sit at the front of the class and they are not allowed to see the board. They look at their peers who then give the answer/definition to the word on the board...the first student to get it earns a point for their team. After they guess they look at the word. This helps the visual learners, the auditory and the kinesthetic by having them get up out of their seats and go to the front.

  6. teach them = then play jeopardy to see whether they learnt their stuff.

or at the beginning have matching cards together and see if they know the stuff already -. thats kind of a pre test.
