Well, the one that is often cited in family literature discusses the role of the step-mother.  (Dainton, Marianne.  1993.  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœThe Myths and Misconceptions of the stepmother identity.”  Family Relations 42:93.)  But you could also just look at the role of gender (especially with fairy tales)-- why is the woman sitting in the tower waiting for the man to come?
