I am almost seven months pregnant with my parents' first grandchild. They have made it very clear that they will not answer to grandmama, granddaddy, or anything like those "old-folgy" names. Please, help us come up with some cute ones.

  1. Nana & Papa

    Oma & Opa (German)

    Bampa (for grandpa)

    Baba & Dyido (Ukranian)

Gigia or Ya-ya & Pappous (Greek)

    Abeula & Abuelo (Spanish)

    NaiNai & Ye Ye (Chinese)

    Bube (for grandma, Yiddish)

    Dida & Dadu (Hindu)

    Nan & Pop

I call one set of grandparents Nana & Papa, simply because I couldn't say Gramma and Grandpa when I was little :) Then my mom's mom is Gramma Nutt after the grandmother in the Candyland board game. My third set is Gramma & Bampa or Oma & Opa (we're German.)

  6. How ridiculous!  Have your child call them by their first names and see how they like that!  My darling Granddaughter can call me anything she wants!  She is the love of my life, born May 9, 2008!

  9. Ask them what they want to be called.

  10. NaNa always worked for me with my grandmother.

  11. My aunt who just became a grandmother recently plans on being called either "Momma" or "G.G." As for grandfather names, I've always thought calling them simply "Grandpa" is nice. I don't know why I find it different for grandfathers, but I do.

    Good luck  : )

  12. Grammy and Pappy

    I think is sooooo cute!

I also like Nanny (or Nana) and Ga

  13. mum and dad

    and they could call you

    brother or sister!

  14. My coworker's grandson calls her Honey.  I think that's a great name for a grandma.  Don't know any really good ones for Grandpa other than Pop or Poppy.  Congrats and good luck with the baby!

  15. When my oldest grand was little, she couldn't say Grandma so she called me "Gamma".  I have six precious grands from 5 to 22 and I don't care what they call me - as long as they call me!  Once that wonderful life is in their arms they will be filled with so much love that it won't matter what they are called.  It's not the names or titles that are important but the relationship.  All of my grands live in different States and, because I have made the extra effort to stay involved in their lives, they are closer to me than they are to their other grandparents.  Good luck and congratulations!

    Pap-pap

Ask what they want to be called? Why dont they want to be called grandma or pappap? They are grandparents and sorry to tell them this but they are no longer 30. They are grandparents and should have a proper title I mean do you not want to be called mom?
