That are sort of in the center of things? Maybe not in the center, but you are able to get to all the major attractions pretty easily from it.....

Thank you!

  1. We returned from the Hotel Mariano on 3/15.  It's near a piazza about three blocks from the train station.  Very convenient to take the buses around Rome.  It is a very basic hotel.  Many of the rooms have been recently redone, and I have to admit they have the best shower I took the whole trip.  The breakfast is very basic as well, but it was fine for me.  There are also a lot of great local restaurants if you walk out of the hotel and turn away from the hotel about 2 - 3 blocks.

  2. I recommend the Hotel Internazionale in Rome. It has the best location and I always stay there. From there, you can walk to all of the major attractions. It offers breakfast and if you book, ask for a room on the 4th floor with a terrace. Go to this website to book directly with the hotel, or try Venere and search Rome as sometimes they offer discounts.

  3. If you wont  accomodation in Rome

I suggest you to visit the sito   www.Sleep.InRome.it

There are many appartements in the center of Rome very beautiful and not expensive.

  4. Inexpensive relative to Rome...I would recommend Hotel Italia on via Venezia.  It's on a side street off the via Nazionale (about 4 blocks from the Termini.  We stayed there in July 06 and we enjoyed it.  Rates were about 90 Euro/night (not including A/C).  The ladies running the hotel were very friendly and the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable.  You can see their website at http://www.hotelitaliaroma.it/where.htm.  As an added bonus they have wireless internet and a laptop you can use to check your email.  (I'm not affiliated in any way with the hotel, I was just very satisfied with my stay there).

  5. I don't know what you mean: "inexpensive"? I'll suggest Eurostar International Palace hotel - via Nazionale no.46. It's a good one, with a gorgeous breakfast and, the most important, just in the center of the city, very close to all beauties of Rome.

  6. I am kicking myself because I cannot, for the life of me remember the name of it, but there is a place that is within walking distance of most of the attractions in Rome. It is a convent (I know, it sounds like a joke) run entirely by sisters who speak only Italian. They have a separate guesthouse for visitors, they cook you breakfast every morning and are very nice (even with the language barrier). If you are looking for some Italian culture, the nuns are more than happy to help you with any questions you may have...just remember your Italian dictionary!

The price is EXTREMELY reasonable but they are the base accommodations: no television set (but you will be out all day and probably all night exploring anyway) and no air conditioning (so if you are going in the sweltering summer, might not be a good idea). There is NO curfew.

I think I found it on Travelocity.com. You might be able to do a general search for it as well. I will let you know if I think of the name...
