What are some decorating ideas for a Summer at the Beach themed school dance?

I need to decorate a school gym with only a small budget. This is for an 8th grade dance. Anything ideas would be very helpful. Thanks!

maybe beach balls or paper shells, palm trees ect to tape on the wall. Maybe put shovels and pails around. The dollar store is your friend!!

Our local Dollar Tree is over run with "Luau" theme decorations.

Hopefully you have a dollar store in your area....I would suggest getting beach balls and blowing them up....have bright pinks and yellows.....as your theme....If you can find a sandbox, you know the kids kind set it up with sand...a backdrop painted with the sun, palm trees ocean and have the kids pictures taken with it....

So many things you can do....

We did that theme for our school one time. It was pretty cool. They had blown up beachballs hanging down from the ceiling, and a really cool dj. they had those  one cut out things where you put your head in the hole and it could look like your some body builder or a s**y chick in a swim suit. Everyone wore filp-flops and They had free sunglasses that people could wear (the cheap party sunglasses ((huge and/or colorful))) they had like, little party picture thingys that you stick to the wall of crabs and fish and stuff. There was some more stuff but i forgot about those things, i will answer again if i remember
