  1. When a hurricance passes Cuba, immediately afterwards, the Cuban leaders are seen visiting the people affected.

When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the president went off playing golf.

In Cuba, there is no commercial advertising on TV, or on billboards - only on the radio.

  2. Cuba is 'accepting' of those who are of diverse backgrounds.

US is 'tolerant' of those of diverse backgrounds. Very big difference between the two attitudes.

One thing, when hurricane Katrina occurred, Cuba offered medical assistance to the US....to send free medical supplies and free medical help from their doctors (who are HIGHLY educated). They were willing to help even though the two countries have strained relations....And, the US refused any kind of help.

Another thing, Cuba is very hospitable in nature, individually and on a whole.

Cubans are also very appreciative of whatever one has, appreciative of people, and love life no matter what their circumstances are. In the US (even Canada at that), many are 'spoiled' with life's luxuries and get easily depressed/upset when they can't get what they want, even though what they have is more than enough and are luxuries.

However, in the US there are many amenities available and most people can afford these things. In Cuba, it's possible at times but not always feasible. It depends a lot on family and financial situations. What's similar about this situation is that in both places you need to work if you want to get certain things. Not everyone in the US can afford everything either. So in one way, that is almost a similarity...funny how a difference can be a similarity.

I'm not trying to sound negative or condemnatory....so nobody get me wrong...these are just firsthand observations.

Both places though have pros and cons in many important aspects of life.

No one can really put either one down. Each place have wonderful qualities as well.

  3. An American can leave America whenever he wants.

An American can protest the the government without fear of being put in jail.

An American can own his own business.

A Cuban can't do any of the above.

  4. uhh i dont know maybe the fact that they are a dictatorship?

  5. Cuba has a much higher literacy rate than the US.  Health care is universal, not just for the poor.

On the other hand, US has freedom of speech and the biggest army in the world.
