  1. Sautee it in your favorite sauce

add it to peanut noodles (maybe my favorite!) and top with scallions

coat it in a ShakenBake type mix (check ingredients to find the vegetarian ones) and bake it for popcorn tofu (cut it in bite sizes first).

  2. If you're not vegan then frying it in butter and garlic is really tasty : )

  3. many different ways ...

Get hard tofu, cut into blocks marinate in sesame oil, garlic, light soy, lime, and honey and fry it in a stir-fry with vegies or noodles.

silken tofu can be used in desserts and pasta sauces

a simple soup : water, stock cubes, coriander leaves, udon noodles, tofu, been shoots, thinly sliced carrot, chilli ginger and garlic

  4. ok,

IGNORE the people who are saying tofu isn't yummy, cause it just is. I cook it all the time and my whole family loves it, even the meat eaters (lol)

    so here goes;

(i'm not a chef so my terms will reflect)

heat your choice of oil in a pan til it gets real hot

    (i choose veg oil)

I always use FIRM or EXTRA firm for this recipe.

the secret I've come to discover about tofu is that once you open package, drain the tofu "brick" really, really, i mean really well. I even use two CLEAN paper towels to squeeze excess fluid out.

Once fluid is drained from "brick" I cut it in half as if though i'm making another brick (do i make sense)

then, I make even cubes out of it all and season as you like. I use a mix of dry garlic and spices w/ salt. You really need it k?

(the best tofu is the kind that's been marinating in spices overnight though, I have only done this once...)

Throw i in the pan carefully and stir often like every 4 min until each "cube" is golden brown.

remember that it contains a high water content, making it longer to gold.

halfways through this process you can add your choice of veggies such as bell peppers, or mushrooms, or stir fry frozen veggies even.

I hope this was helpful to you, let me know how it turns out!

I even have a "mexican" recipe too, it's great if you like salsa, let me know if you want...

  5. fry it in bacon fat

carnivorous morons, hmmm, seems like the human race has done just dandy being the top predator for a couple hundred thousand years, please, tell me more about what is good for me, wise sage.

  6. to make it taste good is that even possible

edit: lmao sorrrrrrrrrry lol thanks i needed that laugh been a down day

  7. tofu is great (in my opinion).

I like using it in stir-fry's and I really like these random pastries I make using spinach, tofu and random spices from my cupboard. Quiche is another tasty way to use tofu as it is a good egg replacer (type vegan quiche into google)

Silken tofu can be used in pies, cakes and cookies (e.g.http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2008/04/che... - that recipe is really good (I used golden syrup instead of agave nectar because I didn't know what it was)

    Tofu scrambles are also great.

    Have fun experimenting

  8. I've never seen yummy & tofu used in the same sentence.

  9. I personally think it tastes good fried in olive oil and with just a dash of salt

    anyways:

You can first make a sauce with the following:

    sugar

    ginger

    soysauce

    purade onions

    garlic

and maybe honey if you like

if your not vegan, you could shave fat of beef for more taste, but i dont think you would 0.0

    just saying..

then, cut the tofu whatever way you like and marinate it with the sauce for around 3 hours.. or however long you want..

Firm tofu is best for this..

you could also make a korean dish called "soondubu"

    spicy tofu soup

Simply add all of the following ingredients into a pot. Ideally, a portable gas grill on the dining table where you can keep the dish hot.

    soft tofu

    napa cabbage

nira (Chinese chives or green onions to substitute)

    sesame oil

kochujan (Korean spicy miso - this is key)

    dashi to dilute the soup

ajinomoto (I like to add some MSG to add umami)

Towards the end of the meal, when the soup has become rich and concentrated, toss in some raw eggs that have been scrambled. Cook until the eggs just start to set. You would probably want to eat it with rice..

  10. I freeze my tofu; in fact, I store it in the freezer.  See my profile for details.

There are many ways to cook tofu, but I usually pan-fry mine with various seasonings.  I made a really yummy tofu piccata last night with some whole wheat fettuccine.

I've pan-fried it, tossed in some nutritional yeast and flour, added soy sauce, lemon juice, and balsamic vinegar, and then added frozen bell pepper strips, green onions, and capers--yeah, it's sour, but it's really, really *good*!

You could also marinate and grill.  If you don't have a grill pan, get one!

There are also recipes where you bake it, but those recipes don't work as well for me.

  11. We usually marinate tofu in any variety of marinades available in recipe books then added to any dish or stir fry as a substitute for what would 'normally' be meat/chicken etc for the recipe. Usually use the firm tofu. For curries etc we use Tempeh which is much firmer. The website below shows dozens of recipes.

  12. You can put it in cookies actually..

  13. freeze it over night and then defrost it when you're ready to cook it with lunch or dinner.  It gives it a better texture, you can marinate it any way you like and use it in stir fries and fried rice and stuff.

The first recipe I like tofu, cubed, was General Tao's Tofu:

Also, you can use tofu to make a really good imitation ricotta cheese, or use it in cheesecake, or in smoothies.  Browse vegweb.com for more ideas!

  14. Cut the tofu in large rectangles about 3cm thick,

Heat oil in a frying pan add chopped garlic and ginger, wait until the garlic has turned brown then add the tofu, pan-fry it so it is slightly toasted all over.

Then after you turn off the stove drizzle soy sauce over the tofu and eat it!

    Mmm
