There are about a ton of different styles to make.  What you need to know is the different knots to tie, or braids.  Like a square knot or spiral, or open square, and so on.  Look on the internet for hemp knots, you can also look for macrame.  Its the same style of braiding just with different materials.  Try this site, some very nice knotwork
